Tom Mitchell will begin his second season as the Devils’ executive vice president of operations in 2018-19. Mitchell returned to Binghamton in 2002 to oversee day-to-day operations of the club after working for three seasons in the same position for the Hartford Wolf Pack.

Mitchell’s involvement in AHL hockey dates back to 1985 when he became a partner and general manager of the Binghamton Whalers, Binghamton Rangers, and Binghamton Senators.

His own hockey career led him to leave his hometown of Vanderhoof, British Columbia at the age of 14 to play in the Canadian Major Junior Hockey League in both North Battleford and Estevan, Saskatchewan. Following his junior career, Mitchell was drafted by the Minnesota North Stars in 1968 and spent four seasons in their organization. At the conclusion of his hockey career, Mitchell moved to the Southern Tier as a sales representative for a materials handling company. He eventually bought his own materials handling business, now known as American Materials Handling & Fabrication Co., in 1982.

Mitchell has three children as well as four grandchildren. He has lived in Endicott, NY for over 30 years and counts flying his own airplane among his various hobbies.
