BINGHAMTON, NY – The New Jersey Devils today acquired goaltender Eddie Lack from the Calgary Flames in exchange for defenseman Dalton Prout. Lack has been assigned to the Binghamton Devils from the Stockton Heat. The announcement was made by New Jersey Devils Executive Vice President/General Manager Ray Shero.
Lack, 29, was in his first season with the Flames’ organization and had split time with both Calgary and Stockton. The native of Norrtälje, Sweden, played in four games with Calgary and was 1-2-0 with a 5.29 GAA and a .813 save-percentage. He was re-assigned to Stockton on November 25, 2017. The 6-4, 185 lb., netminder was 2-2-1 with a 2.57 GAA and a .916 save-percentage in five contests with the Heat before today’s trade.
Lack has spent time with the Vancouver Canucks (2010-2015), Carolina Hurricanes (2015-17) and Calgary Flames (2017) during his seven-season professional career in North America. He worked alongside Devils’ Goaltending Coach Roland Melanson while with the Canucks from 2013-15. The left-catching goaltender is 55-53-18 in 140 NHL regular-season games. During the 2015 NHL Playoffs with Vancouver, he recorded two wins in four games before the Canucks were eliminated by Calgary in first-round.
At the AHL-level, Lack is 59-48-11 with a 2.36 GAA and a .923 save-percentage in 119 regular-season games. He was named to the 2011 AHL All-Rookie Team. He was signed as a free agent by Vancouver on April 6, 2010.
Dalton Prout, who was acquired by New Jersey from Columbus in exchange for Kyle Quincey on March 1, 2017, recorded three assists in 18 regular-season games with the club. In 2017-18, he skated in four games with New Jersey and was re-assigned to Binghamton after clearing waivers on December 29.
The Binghamton Devils return tomorrow, December 31 at 6:05 p.m. to battle the Syracuse Crunch in the New Year’s Eve game.
